Geography 🏞️ - In Geography we have been exploring rivers and recapping the water cycle. We have learnt how rivers are formed and the names of their key features. We used maps to identify the main rivers found within the UK and noticed that most sources started inland and on high ground and that their mouths led out to sea or another river. Test us on our knowledge!
Gloucester Prison Visit 🔒 - Rudhall Class would like to send a very big thank you to Mr Dave Manning for hosting our visit free of charge and to everyone who donated and bought cakes for the Rudhall cake sale allowing for a heavily subsided coach fare. This ended our ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic brilliantly as the children were able to immerse themselves in the rich history hidden behind the prison walls. We got to experience every aspect of the prison, from the cells on the wing to the chapel and even getting to go onboard a high security transport van. With our fantastic guide Clive, we learned all about the history of the site and how the prison has developed over time until it was decommissioned in 2013, much of it (including the cells) staying untouched since it was built in 1792. Luckily, we all managed to escape and make it back to school!
Mothers Day Cards🌸- Rudhall class took inspiration from nature and created some beautiful hydrangea artwork to use as their card designs. We used a paint blowing technique for the blossom and added the stem and leaf details with pencil crayons. We think the results speak for themselves and are absolutely beautiful!
Art 🎨 - Our Art unit during our Crime and Punishment topic has been exploring Graffiti Art and Street Art. We have looked closely at the works of Banksy and Keith Haring, comparing their artwork and using their techniques in our own pieces.
World Book Day 2024 🕮 - Julia Donaldson "The Highway Rat" - We had a great day exploring the tale of one unruly rat. We created our own sequels, wrote a BBC news report and drew in the style of Axel Scheffler.
PC Jo Utley visit 👮♀️ - PC Jo came to visit Rudhall class as part of their ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic to talk to us about what crime and punishment is like in the 21st Century. She spent time talking about her role and how that has changed during her career, she discussed the most common crimes in Britain currently and how people who have committed crimes are rehabilitated through education programmes to help prevent reoffending in the future. Rudhall class also enjoyed a question and answer session where the children covered a range of topics from how to get into the police force to PC Jo’s favourite aspects of her job. PC Jo also lead a whole school assembly to talk about online safety, gaming and bullying. Thank you PC Jo!
