Hello and a very warm welcome to the Early Years section. Our Early Years classroom is called Acorn Class and it’s where the fun and learning starts.

Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read quickly and skilfully. They are taught how to:

~ recognise the sounds that each individual letter makes;

~ identify the sounds that different combinations of letters make such as /sh/ or /ee/;

~ blend these sounds together from left to right to read a word.

Below is a photographic presentation to show you how children will progress in their phonic learning throughout their first year in school.
