Hereford Waterworks Museum
Our trip to the Hereford Waterworks Museum was a fantastic day of learning and exploration! We began by recapping the water cycle and discovering how Welsh Water cleans our water before it reaches our taps. Working in teams, we investigated how filtration works by testing different materials, and even took on the challenge of becoming “water experts on a budget,” planning how to get water from a reservoir to all areas of a town. After enjoying a picnic lunch in the sunshine, we set off in groups on a treasure hunt around the museum, learning about different types of engines and Hereford during the war. We also had great fun in the water park experimenting with cranks, pulleys and pumps. To finish our day, we went pond dipping and discovered a wonderful variety of creatures, including dragonfly nymphs and newts!
