British Science Week 2026
The theme for British Science Week 2026, ‘Curiosity: what’s your question?’, is all about encouraging people to embrace their passions, find the answers to their most burning STEM questions. With the stem question 'What makes the best hanky?' we discussed what makes a good hanky by exploring the properties of materials. We then created our own questions before embarking on an investigation that involved exploring different materials and testing their absorbency, softness and durability. We then explored stereotypes of what a scientist looks like, with most of us picturing lab coats, goggles, conical flasks and a white man with grey hair who resembles Albert Einstein. So we decided to smash the stereotype and produced posters to share that, in fact, we can all be scientists!
